Chamaliang/Lepisanthes fruticosa is a fruit from an evergreen shrub or tree native to Southeast Asia. It has pinnate leaves and clusters of small fruits that ripen from yellow to red and black. When ripe, it’s edible and sweet in taste. Seeds are also edible as roasted and root is used in a compound poultice to relieve itching and to lower temperature during fever.
